I am modeling the SW-1s of the Bonhomie and Hattiesburg Southern (x-Wabash). Most trains in the late 60's were 3-4 cars so I did not need 2 powered units. I used Atlas step castings and built a new plastic frame.

Which makes me wonder why they used 2 engines in the real world? Were they that underpowered at 600 HP?

Here is the pair of SW-1s. Number 2 is the dummy, a MTH shell on a scratchbuilt frame. I am in the process of wiring the headlights on the dummy via a micro plug between the units.

I run my Atlas O switcher on a 16.5" radius with 40' freight cars and Atlas O cabooses on 2 rail.
