Hello Switcher Saturday crew!  It's time once again for our favorite weekly thread πŸ˜€πŸš‚!!  Switcher Saturday is a weekly tribute to the smaller locomotives that do the big work of railroading.   Whether working the docks, spotting cars on the local,  sorting the yard or doing the modern tasks of freight during the week and varnish on the weekend,  Switcher Locomotives are railroading's jack of all trades equipment.

Here on Switcher Saturday,  we celebrate Switcher of all scales and gauges.

Now many of you know I am a huge Halloween fan, so for this weekend I just had to play with the 2021 Halloween layout a little more before breaking it down.   So here's a R-O-W Industries saddle tanker working halloween town.

So now that I got that put out of my system, πŸŽƒ, it's time for you all to show off!  Be it diesel,  steam,  electric, or otherwise, 3 rails or two,  please share your photos, videos,  stories, vignettes,  montages etc.

Have a great weekend everyone,  the high season of the toy train year is soon upon us!  Have a great Switcher Saturday.

Good evening switcher fans!  Thanks JHZ563 for  the early start!  Wow! Your Halloween layout looks great JHZ563!!

This weekends switcher pics are a variety of switchers in their natural habitat doing what they do best.   I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!!

Thanks Pat!  Temporary layouts that run mostly in the dark are quick and fairly easy to do!  Since this was year 4, I had already collected and tested most of the items. The big thing this year was the lava lamp space ship.  It has internal lights but I forgot to turn them on last night.

Your work is amazing. You even manage to make a BL-2 look regal!

Good morning, SwSat Nation!  Last Sunday I took my grandson, Isaac, to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, ME for β€œTrolleyween”.  There was a nice collection of trolleys, as expected, but I didn’t expect to see a critter in the livery of a road close to my MA home, the Providence and Worcester.

I’m attaching - in addition to a photo of the P&W loco - a photo of another critter parked next to it.  I didn’t see a builder’s plate on either engine, but maybe one of you fans can ID them.  And last, how could I go to a trolley museum and fail to include a photo of the trolley we rode on?

Hey there Steam Crazy!  I don't know about the smaller engine, although it does remind of one I saw at the Rr museum of PA in Strasburg.   This one is absolutely a GE 25 tonner.  Elliott Company had one. They're a hoot, single traction motor with chain drive to the axles, and an air whistle πŸ˜ƒ!  The cab is huge compared to the rest of it.

Wow switcher fans, what a great Saturday we have going.  I just have to say jhz563 that your Halloween layout including the lava lamp space ship is just great.  I really don't know how you find the time with your young family and work to do such an elaborate layout.  BZ!!! as we used to say in the service!.

Today, I have something that just arrived on the Lenardtown and Savannah property.  Its an Alco S3 switcher that management picked up 2nd hand from "the Rock".  We are just trying it out on our home rails to get crew familiarity but it seems to do a great job.   (Note:  In reality its a Marx 1998, Rock Island S3 from 1962).  So here he is showing off for his new owners.

Hi all. This 20 tonner used to be part of the Providence and Worcester fan club collection and used to be kept in Worcester Mass.  After P&W was absorbed by G&W the group seems to have broken up the unit disappeared. I’m glad to hear it is still in preservation.

I will always be a fan of P&W I used to live in Providence during college and had a long walk to school though a very industrial area. P&W switched the Providence Journal paper printer along there. A few times the switching blocked the road and made me a bit late. Sadly these were the days before cellphones so I have no pictures but do have fond memories.
