Hey folks,  off to a late start this morning but Switcher Saturday rolls on.   Not a lot cell service here this morning,  so here is another archive collection to get things moving.

Switcher Saturday is a weekly thread where the smaller locomotives are celebrated for what they are and what they do.   Sure a Centennial diesel was a site to behold but it wouldn't be found working local industries. And an Allegheny is awesome, but an A5 did the street running, and saddle tankers worked the docks and tight urban tracks.

Switcher Saturday is always open to all scales and gauges.

Today your Yardmaster ventured South to Providence, RI, with hopes of capturing some NHRR action.  He got lucky, finding NH 0-6-0 no. 2334 hauling a train of Narraganset Beer reefers from the local brewery.

Narragansett was once the largest brewery in NE, with over 60% of the market in the early 60’s.  Competition from Bud and Miller - plus a reported decline in taste due to cost cutting - caused Gansett’s demise about 1985.  A group of investors successfully revived the brand in 2005 using the original 1890 recipe.

I have a vivid memory of the late, great Red Sox announcer, Curt Gowdy, saying “Hi neighbor, have a Gansett”!

NY Mets announcer Bob Murphy's gravely voice just popped into my head selling Rheingold Beer!

Hellow SWS fans, I am a little short of time today so I have included some pictures from my archives.  These show "switching engines at work on the Leonardtown and Savannah (L&S or "long and skinny").

Here the UP  MP-15 by Kline pulls a freight out of the industrial area of the city.

EMD Switcher 2

Here a little Hornby type 51 moves a cattle car out from in front of the depot...those fancy passengers couldn't stand the smell ...small regional US saying...In Texas they say : " Yup, those cattle do smell - they smell like money!"

The Alco S-2 by Kline pulls a small freight up the main.

KLINE PW Freight 1

An Alco S-3  by Marx moves some box cars towards the yard.

Good afternoon fellow switcher fans!   You all have some wonderful photos and videos up as always  I learn a ton of stuff from this thread.  JHZ563 thanks for keeping this thread going and thanks for notching out the throttle to get us rolling each week too!

Today on the Free State Junction Railway I have some fresh videos of a quartet of Maryland short line switchers pulling a very long coal train.  The consist is Patapsco & Back Rivers VO1000, Baltimore and Annapolis SW9, Canton Railroad SW1500, and Maryland & Pennsylvania SW1.  Unfortunately my cell phone can only email about 10 seconds of video so the length of the coal train is not shown.

I hope all of you have a delightful weekend!

Larry that Bob is a bad influence.  He and Paul (Apples55) can really lead us down a path of more and more model trains.

Larry and Joe- I'm more than happy to be a bad influence.......with an honorable mention to

Paul @Apples55 of course.

It's a good thing I have a small layout or I'd have a string of Big Boy's, Challengers and Alco PA's by now.

Bob and @coach joe;

I resemble those remarks Admit it… no one wants to take a trip all alone - company makes the money… er… time fly quickly!!!

And Bob… when you finally do the inevitable layout expansion, you don’t have to jump right in to Big Boys and Challengers. You can keep to your switcher theme - Genset Switchers only require O-54

Happy Switcher Saturday! Saturday afternoon switching session with the new Lionel Genset.

Jesse - phenomenal video!!!  You captured true realism here.... most convincing!! I love the single electric wire running  from pole to buildings ... plus the weathering of the buildings themselves is fantastic!!  Nice looking Genset switcher too!  Excellent modeling

Don't blame everything on Bob @RSJB18.  Rich @Murnane has plenty of blame to take for getting me and several others into Switchers!!

Paul- luckily gensets are past the period I'm modeling.......

Face it guys....it like leaving the fox in charge of the hen house.....

We are all equal enablers......

And, yes, SWSat, is one of my favorite weekly threads, and @Murnane, Rich started me down this path....the key word being DOWN, the grease was on me!
