It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT you should really go take a look, it was a ton of fun!

I was stopped by A&M railroad doing some switching in their "North Yard" in Springdale Arkansas.  I had a Front Row Seat, just the thing for a "train nut" But waiting 15 minutes for A&M to 0807171752-00 switch the yard was making the drivers behind me go NUTS.

A&M was switching with their new SD70ace locomotives.  The crew had just made up the longest train that I have seen on the A&M (approx 50 cars) made up of mostly sand cars and had backed up this long train to get the crew member that was working the switches in the yard, and clear the road crossing.

I have some pics this week from the Oak Point Yard in the Bronx I took last week. The yard is now CSX but formerly was a junction between NYC , New Haven and Pennsylvania RRs. It handles the food came going to Hunts Point for distribution throughout NY City. I took these last Sunday Night. There are both the through train engines and the GP38 local switch power. The fuel dock is in some pics as is one of the ex Conrail bay window cabooses.

Happy SWSAT everyone!!  Rich it's nice to see you back in the saddle with a loop of track and a switcher at the point of your train  AND of course wonderful pics and information from everyone as always!!

I was not able to click off any new photos of switcher action on my railway this week so here is some earlier shots.  Hopefully these pics haven't been shown too recently ... if so my apologies.   Have a wonderfully creative week everyone!!IMG_3021IMG_1933IMG_1925IMG_1919IMG_1931

As promised, here are some shots of real life remote-control 80- tonners.  They don't see alot of action any more but do get started up regularly to keep them in running condition.  I hope to get some footage of these machines in action sometime this fall when we are moving limestone around again.

I love all the details that make these two lokies unique.  Strobe lights on both sides of the cab, the remote operation indicator lights, big mufflers etc.  I have been trying to get this pictures for a while.  I hope you all enjoy them.
