Rich Did you fit any switches onto that module?
Hey Andy, no switches installed on the 2' x 4' module, just straight up 2 mainlines and some scenery, which I've done more "cute" than "realistic", I hope the folks at the club like it. I hope you had a good day with the club, I'm volunteering all day today at the mall, should be a longggg day. Great little logging steamers too!
British steam today .... Have a nice weekend, Daniel
Hi Daniel, Thank you for posting these from "across the pond", it's great to have a bit of non-USA action here on SWSAT, it adds a bit of variation which is really neat.
IMHO, the Trophy for the Greatest O Gauge Switcher of All Time goes to (Lionel Postwar NW2) :It's got Magnetraction, heft, is a very good puller, and goes ding, ding, ding. So charming. It's the Lionel Postwar 6220 (or 622). LOL Arnold
Hi Arnold, I've still got to get a Lionel PW NW2, though I think I'd go for the C&O model, thanks for sharing this post - it's a great train you've got there!
United States Army # 616 Piney River VA - 08/23/58
#18 Ft Eustis VA - 1950s
Virginian # 4
Have a great Saturday guys
Hey Steamer Dave, great pictures as always, I had to check a map for those Virginia locations, I'm still figuring out where stuff is here in Virginia, I'm sure it will take a decade or so more until I feel like I know what is where down here. Thanks for posting the US Army picture too, I should have noted it was Veteran's Day this weekend - To all that have served and their families we will be forever grateful and in debt.
Happy SWSat!
Very nice work on the module Rich- please share more pix of the whole layout when you are done.
Bob
Hey Bob, I love those PRR F-Units, they look great on your layout, very nice trains and it looks like tons of fun. I'll take more pics of the layout when it's all done, maybe with a better background too so you don't see the kids stuff in the background.
?
Hey Brian, looks like you've stumped us - well, except for the pipe-organ idea! Keep us posted if you figure it out, very cool indeed.
A little switcher action on the layout last night.
Hey Chris, I watched the video like 5 times, looks like a ton of fun, thank you for posting it. Also love your 44T's too!
Good morning fellow switcher lovers!! The sun always shines on Switcher Staturday!! And so it is here in Maryland too! The
Great photos and info everyone I always learn so much from what you guys post on this thread. Rich you module look great!! I hope you get it completed in time for your clubs Christmas show. It will be a fine addition to their layout!
Whew! Walked into to the train room last night at 11 p.m. camera in hand. Thought perhaps only an hour had lapsed before glancing at the clock and much to my surprise it was 1:30 a.m.!! Oh well, I was having BIG fun!!
Here are some photos of my C&O 0-8-0, taking on water, and backing into the hole to clear the main for a N&W J class at the point of a fast freight. Also lurking in the background, in the first photos looking down Patsburg Ave., is a B&O SW9. Later, the head end brakeman takes the porch to give the J and her train a roll by inspection. This SW9 is a MTH RailKing Scale model ( PS2 ) and it is my most reliable locomotive. The 0-8-0 is a Lionel which I bought at a 33 percent off sale over 10 years ago.. wow that long ago The J is a 2005 Lionel which I acquired new in a trade.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!
Hey Patrick, The sun really is always shining in Patsville, isn't it? Man, you must have some some great lighting over there! Thank you for the kind words, your layout of course are always an inspiration for creativity, it's fun to see all your pictures each week - and BTW - that Lionel #75 has been on my wish-list forever, I've been waiting to see one pop up somewhere at a show for a good deal, it looks great on your layout.
Happy Switcher Saturday everyone!
If you are a veteran, with Veteran's Day approaching, Happy Veteran's Day and thank you for your service.
It's also the 100-Year Anniversary of the end of World War I. My dad served before World War II, through the war and served in the National Guard before getting out around 1980. Some of his pictures, taken right after the Pearl Harbor attack, made it into this piece by fellow Forum member David Vergun. If you can expand the photos, you'll see the captions.

My contribution is one of my Lionel Pennsy steam switchers, #227, which first appeared in 1939, before we officially entered WWII.
Tom
(Rich-thanks for starting us up again)
Hey Tom, you're very welcome for starting things up, though I'll probably need some help here in the coming months with the holidays, I'll reach out your way of course and try to let you know beforehand! I'm bookmarking that link and will read through it this week, I'm sure I speak for everyone here when saying "we're very appreciative of your Dad's service". Your #227 looks good, I'm still waiting to see one of these running somewhere at one of these shows, somebody that runs trains in the public must run them somewhere!
Switching a cut of loaded coal hoppers...
Tom
I love the switching action! Keep up the great work!
Great RMT BEEP there Bill, such fun little engines, I love seeing them show up now-and-again!
Model of Southern 0-6-0 #1689 assigned by Spencer Shops to the Greensboro passenger yard in 1950. Note that Southern decorated their passenger switchers the same as their passenger power. (but not green!).
Hi Dewey, that's a great Southern engine you've got there, I didn't know that info about the Southern switchers, thanks for sharing it! Tidbits of info like this are always great to hear.
Happy Switcher Saturday. This Saturday Maine Central S2 #301 switching Shark Bay City area.
Hey Johan, your modeling and pictures are simply amazing, you've got to love these stripes on the front of that switcher, thank you as always for sharing these with us, we all look forward to seeing your talent every week.
Always a pleasure looking at the efforts of this talented group. I like color so snapped this picture on the top of my stove using bits and pieces of my layout. My son continues his training with the Union Pacific. His last five weeks are being spent putting trains together in the Roseville yard. Marty has told me that in all phases of training the different men and women of the UP have been friendly and helpful.
Hey Rusty, thank you for posting this awesome picture - and good luck to your son with his UP career. I hope he takes lots of pictures and jots down some of his railroading stories to share with others!
Here’s some pics of then and now I tried to find a pic of my bosses switcher he bought from the terminal railroad but this one is the closest could find. Happy SWSAT
Hey Lee, thanks for posting these - I need to get me a red diesel switcher! Maybe some random road name too, just to move outside my normal comfort zone of the east coast lines (C&O, B&O, PRR, NYC, etc.). Great pictures!
Last month my wife surprised me with a train ride at the Bluegrass Railroad Museum in Kentucky. Here are their various switchers. The ICG-7738 was the engine pulling the train.
Charlie
Hey Charlie, that sounds like a great trip! I still need to catch up with you, I haven't been driving up your way much (changes at work), but hope to get up there soon and will give you a shout - heck maybe bring one of my switchers to your layout for a SWSAT "photo shoot" :-)
0-8-0 7745 takes on some coal while a milk train rolls by in the background!
Great picture Z-Man - that's another engine that's been on my wish-list for a while! Thanks for posting.
Lots of great switchers once again everyone! Rich saw I got this one this week, and maybe you did too. But if you didn't, I got a Premier PS3 Western Maryland 44 Ton #76 from a Forum member. I have wanted one since they came out. Wow, the slow speed controll is great, but it will really move out too!
Love this engine Mark - I'd run it at my club and club functions at like 3 scale MPH, just so it looks like it's switching! Enjoy it and thanks for posting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope I didn't miss anyone, it's hard to do these "wrap up" posts - even though I enjoy doing them once in a while. I'm off to run trains for a whole day at a crazy-busy shopping mall, life is good!
Thanks again to all you Veterans and family members of Veterans!
See you next week...Rich
