Good Morning Switcher Saturday gang!!

Welcome to a special Sunday Edition of Switcher Saturday 😀.  I pulled a switcheroo this weekend due to Christmas. I hope everyone is having a good holiday season and has been able to spend time with family.

To those unfamiliar with this thread, Switcher Saturday is a weekly post dedicated to Switcher Locomotives.   All sizes scales and gauges welcome.   An n scale road switcher diesel,  an O gauge A5 steamer, and a 12" to the foot juice jack are on equal footing here!

So for this weekend's kickoff we have not exactly a Christmas present but an engine that arrived at the same time,  Steelers RS-3 by mth.

So please share your photos,  videos and stories.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy SWSat!

Merry Christmas to all!

Nice Steelers RS-3 Mr. Z. They were my team growing up in the 70's with Terry, Franko, and Mean Joe Green!

And the Immaculate Reception!

I checked another project off my To-do list last week. I bought this K-line MP-15 in GM demo paint a while back. I didn't run when I got it but I liked the paint job so I decided to keep it. Well, I took it apart recently and completed the repairs. It had a bad solder joint on one of the boards. After stripping out non-essential sound and parallel/ series boards, it runs like a champ.
Christmas was a wash out for us this year. My son and I contracted Covid at the beginning of the week and we've been on lockdown along with about half the airline industry apparently.
Fortunately we are all on the mend and we will make up for lost time with family and friends soon.

Good morning SwSat gang!  I hope Santa was good to all of you!

In today’s photo we see B&M Mogul no. 1455 towing RS3’s no’s. 1509 and 1518.  This image was inspired by a scene in a video I own, “Boston and Maine Memories, Vol 1, The Films of Robert Chaffin”, distributed by the B&MRRHS.  A clip in that video shows a Mogul (not 1455) with two RS3’s; the narrator describes the 2-6-0 as the “yard switcher of the day”.  If the Mogul fits B&M’s description of “switcher”, it’s good enough for me!

Good morning SWSAT fans, and Merry Christmas!

About an hour ago our doorbell rang, which surprised us on a Sunday morning.  It was a FedEx driver delivering a package that needed a signature.  Well, Merry Christmas to me!  It was a Legacy Penn Central SW8 from Nicholas Smith Trains.  This is one of their custom runs (only 25 produced) and I was lucky enough to get one.

The anticipation grows...

A very nice looking locomotive...If you're into black and white with a splash of yellow.IMG_2620

The inaugural run.  If this was an actual locomotive it would have a date with the rebuild shop.  Anything that smokes like this one is running on borrowed time.  At least this one has a switch to turn the smoke off!

It pulls like a champ!  Very nice low speed operation.  A big improvement over my Atlas O SW8 with TMCC control.

Have fun running your trains today!  I know I will

Tom

Good afternoon fellow switcher fans!  I hope everyone had a most enjoyable Christmas!   Love all your pics so far!  Thanks JHZ563 for moving this thread to today  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my switcher fan friends

Here are some pics of Christmas trains on the Free State Junction Railway.

FSJR's two Christmas trains about to embark on a holiday journey.  B&A SW9 switcher, leading the Santa Special,  is adorned with snowmen, nutcracker, and carries Mr. & Mrs. Clause on the front end.    IMG_8583

Mr. & Mrs. Clause on the front step of SW9.  Idling on the adjacent track, the Baldwin R-16 Sharks will couple to their train, The Nutcracker,  after the Santa Special departs. IMG_8597

This B&O caboose is full of yummy candy canes to be disturbed to boys and girls alongside the tracks.  IMG_8619

Tom - fabulous SW8 switcher!!  Love the sound, smoke, and slow speed.  Your post inspires me to get to the train room, run trains, and do some layout construction!!  Thanks for the mojo!!!

@RSJB18 glad to hear you are on the mend.  Sorry you got sick at all.

@Tom Densel Congrats on your new Penn Central unit, it looks great 👍

@Don McErlean that Marx unit looks great!

@Putnam Division that looks like the same Christmas Switcher we have at the Z house,  but I certainly don't have all those cool little reindeer cars🎅

@trumpettrain Pat you always have amazing things to share.  Those sharks for the Nutcracker Special are really nice.

@coach joe, @Steam Crazy, thank you for posting too, everything is looking great 👍.

To you guys and all the Switcher Saturday regulars, Merry Christmas and happy holidays.  Let's hope we all finish out the year healthy and here's looking forward to a better year in 2022.
