I have several 036 right hand switches in my layout. Also have left hand switches. There are two of the switches that will not work. the right hand ones are the ones that won't work. I have put them in different places on the layout but still wont work. Any ideas?

I guess the manufacturer is Lionel and they are Fastrack? What do you mean by not work. Do they light up? Not work by the remote controller? Not work by the anti derailing? Not work by the Command Control?
yes they are fast track. they do light up , but will not switch with the cab 2 remote. the derailing part does work. I just cant get them to work with the remote
I can program the switch with the remote. When I address the number it won't respond.
Hmmm...if they program, proper led blinking and all, seems like they should switch too. Do they work with the manual remote...the thing with the handle?
I will put the handle back on and try that.
It may be a day or so before I know
It might be useful to lay a ground wire over the switch and try it (the wire from the db9 pin#5 on the base or the house ground pin on the electrical outlets). Just to check the signal...although it seems good if it programs.
What Chuck said … his advice on the use of a 3-prong adapter and ground wire got some of my balky and phantom switches working fine.
Before re-connecting the manual controller, I think you can also try placing your hand over the switch and using the remote. If it works, seems like it would likely be a ground plane issue.
This switch has been moved all over the track and it will not work any place. I have tried everything you guys have suggested, still no workey. The best place for it is in the trash. I will have to buy another one. Thanks for your help. As near as I can figure, the little motor inside the switch is not working and it would probably cost more to fix it than the cost of a new one.
Thanks
Bill
One thing on the motor, does the anti derail work? Short the two outside rails together on straight or thru...run a car over it, which ever direction the switch is not in, and see if it switches. If so, the motor is fine.
Try pulling the back panel off and extending the antenna. That fix typically works for me.

This proves the switch motor is good and so are the mechanical bits.
