This is a first for me. My T.I.U. Input to Output Voltage Drops...opinions...
The real interesting part of this is the signal is still getting to the engine and registering "10." But, the headlight flickers going slightly dim to bright...
I know the issue is inside the TIU because all I have to do is touch a jumper wire around the outside of the TIU and as soon as I connect the power "around" the TIU it works perfectly.

Not sure if this is involved in the current path, but IIRC talk here about the terminal nut inside becoming loose.

Had the same problem and so I got some electrical cleaner (spray), wiped down the track and the problems went away!

Is it just the headlight in the one engine, or will a lighted caboose also flicker in sync with the engine?
As Barry stated, if all engines or devices do this, I would look at the loose nuts as mentioned. You also did not state if this was Fixed channel or Variable. That could matter too. For fixed, I would look at either loose internal or external connection. G
It does seem like loose TIU nuts. We occasionally have a similar problem with our Post War ZWs. The rollers sometimes lose contact and we have to slide the handle up & down a few times or change handles. Normally we never touch them.,

Caboose light/passenger car lights dim--not flickering as engine.

Six screws on the bottom will disassemble the TIU. Nuts are 9/32 or 7mm? i believe ... you may have to work around to tighten. While your in there ck your transciever board and reseat if necessary. Procedure is in the DCS Companion.
