Does anyone know the colors that were used on storage tanks for fuel and oil during the early 1950's? Any reference material source would also be appreciated. I am also interested in the typical colors for structure beams and ladders and platforms.

Generally tanks were painted silver, white or black. Silver was the predominant. This included stairs and handrails. Tanks were built using riveted construction prior to the 1940's and welded construction thereafter.

Yep, Alan is correct. I worked in refineries for over 40 years and most tanks are silver, black or white. Even spheroids
I have been inspecting, constructing and repairing them for about that same amount of time. I never met a tank I did not like.
