Tanks for Nuthin

Oops, that one GATX black tank car was in the 2015 Lionel catalog.

A few questions come to mind:

1) What manufacturer?

2) What year was the catalog you were referring to?

3) Product/item number and description, i.e. 8000 Gal, 10,000 gal, etc., for the car in question?

 I found a gazillion tank cars in bright livery for fallen flag RR's.  I have never seen a tank car lettered for a RR. If you have prototype photos, please post. The 2017 Lionel catalog only has one number for each grain door boxcar road name, though.

The PRR had tank cars for fuel and oil to move around their system.

Not to mention the two experimental "supertankers" dubbed rail wales!

Are these what you are looking for? BNSF tank cars  No idea what type they are as I am pretty much prototypically challenged and don't know one from the other. They do have BNSF on them. I see then around here all the time and I have 8 of them from MTH a few years ago, Premier, BNSF, 6 car set and the 2 regular cars from the same catalog. Maybe 2013-2014 or so.

Oops, again... Grabbed wrong catalog...that black GATX tank was in the 2015 MTH Vol. Il catalog. Any of those washed ashore yet? #20-96717

Did you try the product search feature, using that item number, on the MTH website?

Here's a few;

I wasn't sure if your interest was in the MTH or Lionel GATX tank car but I have the Lionel one. It's #4415 and the product number is 6-82856.  I think it was an advance catalog order last year via Charles Ro.
