It has been awhile since I worked on one of these. Got one brought to me for repair. A couple of questions. With this add on board for MTH protosound 1 to add TMCC capability (In this case a Railking Doodlebug). I can't get the motor sound to idle as there is always around 12 volts to the board. I can turn the Cab 1 remote dial counterclock wise and it will go to an idle sound for a brief moment, then it jumps back to medium speed running sound again (while the doodlebug is stopped or running slow) 2nd, does the PFA get forfeited with this board? I can't get the PFA to operate at all. Am I not operating this right? Can't get either of the functions mentioned to operate in conventional either. Any help is welcomed. Thanks.

Not from me Chuck, Sorry. G
I found these boards to be pretty finicky as to operation, and I also had some PS/1 boards that they didn't seem to play well with the UCUB. I liked the concept, but the execution left something to be desired. I recall you had to have reset the PS/1 board to a specific state before installing, perhaps that's where the issue lies?
The guy that should know is Mike Reagan, perhaps he'll have better insight?
Yes, the Protosound board has to be locked in forward, which I did. I can get the single horn honk while holding the bell button down while I am operating in cab one TMCC to engage the PFA. The problem is when I hit the direction button the activate the PFA sequence, the doodlebug goes into reverse instead.
From doing some online reading, I guess there was a original UCUB, and later a UCUB2 which worked better for MTH protosounds boards. I guess I have the original version.
Yes, the UCUB2 is, AIR, specifically designed for Protosound. I have been semi-actively looking for one, but these seem rarer than hen teeth.
The PS-1 software had some changes and I wonder if this caused issues. Locking/unlocking with whistle was an early feature. It could be a top board issue. May need the early top board, or maybe other way around. G
