I may be able to work it out to attend York. So I went to the TCA site. I found 'guest' registration but no info on 'public' admission. Am I dreaming that the last York met had a 'public' option.....that allowed entry into public halls but not member halls. Was that all wishful thinking on my part?? Any info??  thx!!!

As a few have mentioned earlier, yes the general public is now admitted into the dealer halls (Orange and Purple) as well as the black hall which houses the modular layout on Friday and Saturday. However, in order to see the other four halls, you must be a TCA member or register as a guest. Guests can only attend the meet once. IMO, I would suggest becoming a TCA member. You will gain access to all seven halls, and if you are seriously interested in O gauge trains, chances are you will be back after your first York.
