I was thinking about buying an MTH PS2 engine today. At the last minute, I decided not to buy it because the guy only runs conventional on his layout. I was sort of spooked about not being able to test it with DCS. Is that a legitimate concern that it won't function in DCS if it works perfectly with conventional control? He uses a Z-4000 and I ran it forward and reverse, smoke, bell & horn, everything seemed okay. Are there other tests I can perform with his set-up or should I insist on bringing a TIU over? Thanks for your help.

If a PS-2 5V, I have seen several that run conventional, but lost the ability to use DCS. If PS-2 3V and up, usually not a problem. Of course the probability is normally Yes it will run in DCS if it runs fine in conventional. You could always make it a condition of the sale to test in DCS. G
If you're going to be able to see it on a layout, I'd pack the TIU and remote and just give it a DCS test. I've only seen one 3V board that won't run DCS but will run conventional, and I actually have a 5V board set that runs conventional and not command in captivity.
Thanks guys. FWIW, it is a 3v board.
how much was he selling it for?
