The Texas Tech University GP 35L project is completed.  Started with an O Scale Lionel Legacy GM&O GP 35.   I purchased it via the forum from Donald Jones.  Removed shell and all windows.  Sent the shell to Christine Braden for her to do her magic.  I was able to go to the switch yard and take quite a few close up pics for to use as a reference.

I can't thank Christine enough for her talent on these one offs I present her with.

This engine is on a local shortline, LBWR,  here in Lubbock Texas which is owned and operated by Watco Companies.  Here is a link to the debut here locally.

I spent some time in Lubbock many years ago, and will refrain from commenting, other than to say that the names of some of the surrounding towns say a lot about the area: Brownfield, Levelland, and Plainview.  The West Texas Caprock is very flat and featureless.

Heard a quip from a guy once about being in Lubbock. He said that in Lubbock, when you stand up, you can see 10 miles. And if you stand on top of a tuna can, you can see 20.

That's a nice story about the railroad painting one of their engines in Tech colors. It's nice to have railroad management that will consider such personal undertakings for the areas they work in. I can see why you wanted a model of the engine.

Lubbock was still Santa Fe country when I was there.
