I've read tons of stories on good deals and I'd like to share min, and I hope it is allowed.
On 12/30 my oldest daughter and myself decided to head up to Micro Center in Duluth, GA to return an iPad I ended up being unable to use. On the way up, we stopped at Trainmaster Models in the small town of Auburn. They were having a year end "half off used" sale. We poked around for a bit and after about 30 minutes we made our way to the new stuff, out of the used room. A couple of MTH Premier boxes caught my eye, and there was 4 Union Pacific engines, ranging from $275 to $400, which I thought were already good deals, until I saw "USED" on the stickers.
I brought 2 engines over to their little test track and while one would move, the other would not....I left, and got halfway down the road before I turned around and went back and got this SD70ACe. $150 with PS3, if I am allowed to share what I paid. Got home, it would fire up but not move. After reaching out to the Facebook groups I was instructed to do a factory reset. I use a TMCC setup paired with a Legacy Powermaster, so I know it is capable of running the engine no problem. I was able to do a factory reset with the TMCC remote, and it runs flawlessly. I am amazed at the detail and performance-their version of cruise control works conventionally and this locomotive will absolutely crawl if you want it to. The TMCC remote even fires the couplers with the native coupler buttons.
There are good deals to be had out there, and this one just kinda fell in my lap. The folks at Trainmaster were absolutely fantastic, and a great group of people to deal with.
I live 5 minutes from Memory Station, 30 from Trainmaster Models, an hour and a half from Legacy Station, and about an hour from Trainz. This could be hazardous.
We never made it to Micro Center...that was a trip this evening.
