Rich with an iPad!!! The battle has been won; he is no longer stuck in the 20th century.
Bill
Bill, I got an iPad primarily to use it in the aircraft. I no longer take ANY paper charts with me on a flight. Literally everything I need is in the iPad...and that now includes this forum!
Go to the App Store and search on "O Gauge Railroading." It is a FREE APP.
Where do I get my free iPad?
I know this is day one, but is there going to be an iPad-specific app? There is so much more real estate on the iPad that goes to waste when an iPhone app is used on an iPad.
Other than asking for my email address instead of my login id, the conversion went smooth for me.
I just got mine. Works great!

Better hope that thing doesn't crap out on the flight, especially in an IFR flight!
Until they have a keyboard that I can touch type on, they won't replace mine.

Never mind.... Even with a keyboard, I can't type fast enough!

Touch the little "2X" button down in the bottom right corner. That will expand the app to fill the iPad screen.
Marty, the iPad supports a Bluetooth keyboard

ALL my flights are IFR flights. All my flghts are above FL 180 so they HAVE to be IFR. Besides, I'm too dumb to fly VFR these days. Too many areas of restricted air space!
There are always two iPads on board, mine and the co-pilot's. Plus we have all the IFR geo-referenced approach charts in a panel-mounted Avidyne EX500 MFD. That's triple redundancy and so far not one of them has ever gone away on us.
The iPad is legal for Part 91 IFR now. I have a scratch pad on board for copying clearances and a pad of engine trend report forms and that's about it.
Sadly, there are no apps for layout building, collecting or cataloging. I can't even put the great HSL Lionel catalogs on the Ipad for viewing. I started a thread on the old forum about iPad apps but it got very little attention. Any iPad or Mac app programmers out there thatvan help a guy out?
Found it! THank you. I works great.
I'm running the forum on my iPad I through Safari
Still putting the duh in Flori-duh

Rich, just a nit, but.... This reply of yours is complete when viewed via Safari on the iPad. But when I use the iPhone app the post is truncated after the word "that's" in the last line. I've noticed truncated posts a few other times in the iPad app.
I do know about the '2x' button, but it just doubles the size of the app - it doesn't double the amount of data displayed.

This is great! Now how about getting the app for my nook, as well as the mag available for download from Barnes and Noble ;-)
Thanks,
Wes
Not Nook, I want the magazine on my Kindle. Oh boy! Now that I figured out how to reply with quotes with my Droid I can grow up to be a real cyber warrior.
Nook vs. Kindle, IPhone vs. Droid, I hope this new forum doesn't cause us to neglect our Lionels and MTHs.
Love the new forum and all its possibilities.
I'll try to behave now.
From Flori-duh Kumbiah everyone.
I so wish DCS was more open source. An iPad App to control trains would be awesome. A little Wifi to TIU or perhaps Wifi to the frequencies that the current handhelds use and MTH would be off to the races. You could download a plan of your track, move switches, turn accessories on and off, etc. Drag on a train to speed it up, or perhaps access custom sliders to control the speed (with a big RED 0SM/H button), etc.
I ran into the same thing when trying to use the photo uploader. I liked the photo editing capability, but it did not complete the upload. Is the Clips a restricted section or a future use for uploading photos
Can you edit posts using the iPhone APP?
Just loaded it on my phone. Works well, thanks OGR.
I have been using the old forum through Mobile Safari on my iPhone 4S. The app sure does look better.
Awesome! How cool to have this on my Iphone. Thanks guys!

So far it does not look like you can edit or quote via the iPhone app, just reply
