Lafarge is a world leader in cement, aggregates and concrete. The company has a major presence in the UK. As part of its UK business, the company operates what is known as the Self Discharging Train or "SDT". The SDT utilizes a conveyor which enables the automated discharge of the lading as desired. While watching a webcam positioned along the old London, Tilbury & Southend Railway at Barking earlier this morning, the SDT made an appearance. In addition to posting a webcam screenshot of the train which was powered by a DB Schenker Class 66 still in full Wisconsin Central inspired EWS livery, I've also posted a video produced by Lafarge explaining how the train works.
