A glimpse of the Napa Valley Wine Train on the Brisbane & Bushong RR. After many trips on the real thing, I had to get one for my railroad! Matt

Awesome train set and scenery. Very nice photos.
You have me searching for a now.
Lionel 6-31737 set? If the number is correct the set was made in 2005 with Railsounds.
How do you like the operation of the diesels? Sounds, slow speed operation, pulling power?
Thank you for sharing photos and information of this very nice set.
Great photos

Bob,
There's three ways you can go. The set that you mentioned above, 6-31717. The nice thing about the set is that it is scale. It was in Lionel's 2005, Vol. 1 catalog. It's hard to find.
If you can find it, you can get the K-Line #K1511 set that came out in 1995. It is semi-scale...also hard to find.
I bought mine piecemeal. My engines are K-Line by Lionel #6-22610. I also have the 15" car set by K-Line. They are semi-scale. Matt

Matt, thanks for the train set info. I will cruse around some sites to see what I can come up with.
Best regards
Bob
Matt, I was in Napa last year and saw, took pics of the train. Not enough time to ride and experience it, but saw it ran by a few times. My daughter was hooked on visiting too many wineries, but I did buy some momentos for my train room. Now I am in a quest to get a Napa Valley Wine Train Set - either Lionel or K-Line.
There are day and night runs. We've taken both. We thought the nights runs were the most fun. It's really a great ride if your every in Northern Cal. Don
Great photos!
Great pics!!! I've enjoyed a few bottles on that train as well. It's a blend of two hobbies, hers and mine.
Very Nicely Done!
The paint scheme is absolutely beautiful! I came across the Pentrex Video some years ago. Then saw the set that Lionel offered in their catalog(and missed out on it). And once again, I learn something new from the Forum. I did not know that K-line had done these.
I hope to take my wife west on a vacation with a trip to Napa for the ride as part of the plan.
Enjoy!
I'm looking for the Lionel 6-31717 set as well. My wife and I are going back to Napa in April and we're going ride the train!
Bob
Killian, thank you for the info of where to purchase the train set.

Great picture of the passenger car with arched windows. Are any of O scale passenger cars have the arched windows? Thanks, Don
Hi Killian, great to read ya buddy.
As for the Napa Train I have the O-27 model K-Line put out about fifteen years ago. It's never been out of the box. I bought it because I loved the colors on it.
My wife and I, for years wonted to go out to the "Wine Country" and ride the thing but something always came up to change our plans. Oh well, such is life!
Thanks Killian - I'll try to get one before they're gone.
I rode the Napa Valley Wine Train five or six years ago with a friend and his wife. All equipment appeared exceptionally clean and well maintained. The whole operation was well run, with an excellent staff.
Using the smoke unit of the Lionel version would be unprototypical; the FPA-4 ALCO locomotives have run very clean whenever I have seen them.
The first four pictures were taken last year, while the other three are from 2009.
For those wishing to chase the train, the train’s route heads northwest from the station in Napa, crossing over Route 29 (the St. Helena Highway), and then turns north, tightly along the west side of Route 29, until it crosses to the East side of the highway, just past the Franciscan Winery. It shifts away from the highway after entering the town of St. Helena. Although the tracks end just south of the Charles Krug Winery, the north bound portion of the trips ends just past Pope Street in St. Helena. The locomotives are run around on a side track for the return trip.

For a price, cab rides are available.

Don,
Did you drink Chardonnay? Or, did you brave it and have a robust Cabernet while you were on the night run? Matt
