I am on the train heading back to Boston from York and saw the new Prospector from the LCCA and it is even nicer in person than the photo. I'm very glad I ordered this one. LCCA members better move on this one;I don't think they'll be around long!        Below is the link for more info and ordering.

This is good to hear. I am probably going to order the Prospector as there doesn't seem to be much for me in the 2013 Tinplate Catalog. Will be able to put my tinplate dollars towards this LCCA offering.

Was in the LCCA back in 1989 or 90 for awhile and the fact that this is the Lionel Collectors Club offering a Lionel engine with a MTH sound/control system is kind of humorous t me. I well remember some of the sentiment towards 'the new guy'.

This would have been unheard of back then...

It isn't really a Lionel Engine.  Lionel Pre-war tinplate is made under license by

MTH.  All "Lionel Corporation" trains come with MTH sound systems.

I think that the cost difference in manufacturing between the newer electronics and the conventional e-units has balanced out with current manufacturing volumes and techniques.

LIONEL CORP CHARGES THE SAME PRICE EITHER WAY! SORRY. its not the LCCA trying to jerk you around. lets be clear on that issue. just open a new Lionel Corp catalog and you will see what i mean.

thanks

the lionel tool was not to good. i'm talking about the one lionel made. there were problems with the metal tabs. our sample was a late lionel version and we had to goo it together. the new tool is much heavier and really the price isn't too bad.

thanks
