This is the thread to discuss and post photos of all things K-Line. I started this thread a while back and wanted to post in it, but it appears it got lost in the big forum format transition.

Credit goes to c.sam for getting me hooked on these amazing value models. Thanks to him I now own their scale NYC Hudson (fresh off the FS board) and PRR B-6 switcher, both of which were instant keepers. The Hudson is the best $400 I have ever spent, and the reported blemish on the tender turned out to be superficial residue that rubbed right off. Where else can you get a model so finely detailed for such little money??

Two A5's, a B6 and a another one, a 4-6-6t arriving via Ups tomorrow. All TMCC. I think of them as value plus. Plus lots of smoking cabeese (sic), smoking yard office, remote switches (o-27) 27"and 42" and any operating stuff that is not too modern (Marx replicas ) that pass for steam era. Not sure what I am going to purchase next. Try not to spend more than $300.00 at a time. But the last one was on sale for $450.00 at Western Depot and would not have bought if it had not been discounted. I am always amazed, amused at how much more the 0-4-0 tenders weigh compared to more expensive Lionel. I guess someday they will even have more scrap value. Even found some 40" straights (they are actually a tad bit longer than Lionel) put in the Charles Ro Lionel rack by mistake and decided I liked the tie spacing and the price better. Of course someday when I am older and wiser. Only 55. I may look back and realize how foolish I have been not to pay $$$$ for newer less detailed stuff. ; ) FMH

We were fortunate to have two K-Line Hudsons at the same time. No 5344 is conventional and will eventually be converted to PS2 and MTH smoke.

No 5343 is Nick's new acquisition and his photos really do it justice!

In the second photo, the third model on the left is MTH's first scale Hudson from 1996. It is surprisingly close in detail to the K-Line and quite a nice model.

Guys,

My favourite K-Line item is the operating cars that work with the handheld remote controller. My kids sure love being able to dump logs, coal, freight or milk cans anywhere on the layout. I've got the milk can loading platform to install on the layout for Christmas. I sure wish someone would start making these cars again.
