My 6th grandson had his turn to get a trainset this Christmas Since his name is Rocco I decided to create a "The Rock" Train. Wanted a Lionchief Bluetooth engine but The Rock isnt one of them. I found an MPC era GP7 shell from Henry of Island Trains and wanted to swap out the new Lionchief GP7 shell with it. Unfortunately the mounting is completely different The MPC had the little screws on the ends of the shell and the new one has the mounting screws underneath I asked my good friend Vinny the Chef to do his magic on it and he didnt disappoint me. I now have a Lionchief GP7 in the Rock along with a number of cars

Nice idea, nice work on the engine, nice train, very nice present. And most of all nice work getting up high enough to photograph the train on that ceiling layout. The engine work wouldn't have anything to do with Vinny being the member of the year would it?
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Great job on the Rock !
get him some Rock island Boxcars from Menards . they would look great with his new set .
Congratulations on another grandchild - the train looks great!

Looks like a fun train set. Plus he's got a one-of-a-kind item. Not bad for your first train!!
Commend your selection of livery for your grandson but can't wrap my mind around those black handrails. If he ever asks, tell him it was a repaint of a black and red Rock Island locomotive, which certainly many of the Bankruptcy Blue GP's would have been.
Hey Ben:
That's a striking set and will only increase in fun value as Rocco gets older. Even though I live nowhere near the prototype road, I've always been partial to The Rock logo and livery.
If you haven't done it already, I (and perhaps others) would love to see more photos of your overhead loop. The way you've built it right into the woodwork and made it look like traditional molding near the ceiling is quite attractive.
Nice work all the way around.

Necessity the mother of invention! Nice job Ben!

Nice story and great Christmas gift. Would love to see a video of on the hirailer layout.

Great work. Love it...
Get some LED strip lights to brighten-up the track area to see the freight train more clearly and make it the center of attention.
