I was hoping follks would notice that Lionel actually had an inspector who would check each item over before packing it for shipment. That person would put an identifying number on it indicating the pride that went into building something.

Sadly lacking today.

I recall some years ago when my focus was more on Post War and tradtional trains finding a slip of paper in a 9" 2454 boxcar for the same purpose. "inspected by xx"

If it's so hard to mfg replacement parts and electronics can no longer be maintained due to again (obsolete or no longer made) parts. 

Idiot simple electronic control is the BEST  option.

Funny how we started out in this hobby .....running trains in a circle...now we run around in circles trying to maintain and keep running  our trains.
