I suppose it's kind of like the feeling you can get listening to music. Only it's just the train making laps around the layout. The cars going by one at a time, the sounds of the wheels on the track, and the engine sound effects -- or not. After a while it has a very relaxing and kind of hypnotic effect. For me, it's best on a weekend morning with a cup of coffee. This isn't one the reasons I got into the hobby originally. Those were liking models, liking trains, modeling, having a creative outlet and having something to just go and do. Oddly enough, for all the investment I've made in DCS, Legacy and TMCC it's my conventional and WBB engines that I prefer for this type of operation. No speed control or rail sounds, just motor hum.
Anybody else out there a Zone addict?
