Per the MTH Instructions

a. Bring up the menu on your DCC Handheld ( in my case an NCE Procab)

b. Enter 29 to edit CV-29

c. Enter 36 to change the value of CV29 and hit Enter

d. The engine will give you a two horn blast response (That never happened) and it goes on to say;

In the following steps you will now need to write values to CV17 and CV18 to tell the engine what the long address should be.

O.K., I can live with that; while I have been thru the manual several times in search of the means of determining the values of CV17 and CV 18 as I have either over-looked the formula or did not have a clue as to what I was reading. All I set out to do was program the long ID # 1032 in my Dash-9. If someone could find it in their heart to advise me in the error of my ways, it would be greatly appreciated and restore my faith in MTH electronics.

PRR Man; thanks for your response. I tried your formula on my NCE system with no results; I then tried it on a newly installed NCE system again I was unable to program the engine's long address. I was able to do the 55 recall and succeeded in restoring the factory 3333 long address. There must be another method of programing CV-17 and CV-18 for the long address.

Nighttrain,

Which engine are you trying to change the address on? PRR man's method should work fine. I've done a bunch of addresses with the NCE ssytem.

Since you were able to reset the engine with 55 tells me it's an older model. All the new stuff will reset with 8. I've upgraded the files in a bunch of HO SD70 ACE's that open all the CV's, That's probably why the cv29 didn't work.

Yes. It would have to be a PS3. The first HO SD70's didn't have the expanded CV's. A lot of people complained and MTH did open the rest of the CV's. I have updated many of them and now they have all the CV's. So now they reset just like any other DCC engines with CV 8.

Though I'm not aware of these problems in O scale engines as their PS3 came out after the the up grades.
