I have been enjoying my LionChief Plus locos for a few weeks now. Just for fun, I ran all three LC+ locos on the same track (My O-60 loop on my 6 X 12 layout) powered by a single CW-80. The three ran fine at the same time, no overload, all puffing smoke. No overheating of the CW-80, it was barely warm. I ran like this for about 20 minutes without problems. I had the CW-80 lever pushed all the way full.
Because the Pacific and Hudson have essentially the same powertrain and chassis, they run at synchronized speeds very nicely. So I typically run those two on my outside loop simultaneously, and run the Mikado on my inside loop, and run the narrow-gauge up on the mountain, so I have four trains running simultaneously. No operator attendance needed. I can kick back and watch the train action, and enjoy the big-time smoke and chuffing.
I pick up a remote if I want to blow the whistle. Otherwise I have the remotes on my control stand, easily available. But often I will choose to be the engineer of one of the locos, and follow it around the layout some, varying speed, whistle, and bell. Lots a smiles and loads of fun. -Ken
