I picked up this tin friction toy a year or so ago and finally got off my behind and did the simple conversion to 3 rail

Very nice conversion.
Is the model still produced? What was the make. I have some projects like this in the "to be done" pile. I have a few Japanese commuter trains that look a bit like RDCs and a Melbourne trolley. Someday.

It is made by Daiya. It is not that old so I would think they are around. I also have 3 of the RDC types waiting conversion and a Melbourne Trolley.

Nice job! I've also had lots of fun converting friction and windup toy cars and trolleys to 3-rail O. A great place to buy appropriate tinplate toys is Tin Toy Arcade http://www.tintoyarcade.com/. And here's a link to my tin toy mashup video:
