I have lurking over here in the tinplate forum, reading with interest. As a newbie to tinplate but not a newbie to modern trains, tinplate seems to have an allure all its own.

Do folks have recommendations on informative books or websites, besides OGR forum, to read up on the history of tinplate, Lionel and other Manufacturers?

Seacoast,

The guys have done a good job recommending the Books, sense you are new to Tin Plate I will give you this advise, there are some companies modern track that do not accommodate Tin Plate Trains very well, so before you set up a Tin Plate layout become familiar with the track you plan on using.  The track and switches I recommend for trouble free constant running of all the different Tin Plate Trains are, Lionel Conventional Tubular with 711/072 Switches lots of power need for this set up, Original K-Line Tubular Super Snap Track and Switches, new low voltage Tubular RMT Super Snap Track & 072 Switches and FasTrack with Low Voltage 054 and larger Command Control Switches.

Welcome to the Tin Plate world and have fun!

PCRR/Dave
