is my Tiu dead? Cannot find it -- any suggestions?

Been there, seen that, got the T shirt. The only difference is that mine blinked 25 times.

The issue is rare, however, there is a fix.

The fix is to just reload the TIU's software with DCS version 4.10, 4.20 or 4.30.

There are  a couple of caveats:

  • After the software update, the TIU will have DCS ID# 1
  • If whatever release of DCS you use for the TIU is different from what's in any your other TIUs or remotes, you'll have to update those devices as well.

the tiu was originally programed with 4.1  should I have reprogrammed with 4.1?

No, that makes no difference at all.

Finally reloaded software 4.3-- The program ran and said it was complete  removed power  waited plugged power back in -- the tiu blinked 6 times, unplugged plugged back in blinked 9 times.  reloaded 4.3 again  same scenario blinks 9 times.

Unfortunately, I do not.

I'd suggest a conversation with MTH tech support, detailing what you tried and what was the result. It would appear that there are varying severity levels of this particular problem.

I have a rev G TIU that blinks 9 times also. If I cycle the power it will blink 3 times, so I set TIU  to 3. When I push read it reports TIU 3 not found. When I set it to super I can operate the engine already current( setup on second working TIU ) in the remote and everything works. When I push read it still reports TIU not found.  Any thoughts?

See my posts above.

A reload pf the TIU software with 4.20 or 4.30 should correct this. If not, it has to go back to MTH.

Barry,

Is this a specific TIU issue or related to the software update? Was going to bring a friend up from 4.2 but if this may result it we'll leave it as it works fine for them.

It's a TIU issue that is rare and independent of a particular DCS release. The one time that I encountered this was with DCS 4.10.

MTH built-into DCS 4.20 and later the code necessary to correct the problem.
