I have a 2 - Z4000's with handles supplying power to all 4 channels of my TIU. TIU has an auxiliary power by Z750 brick.. Everything worked great till my grandson forgot to throw a switch from an unpowered siding and derailed my GP-40 (PS3). I now have flashing light on one Z4000 indicating a short. TIU is Rev L. I disconnected feed wires from transformer to TIU and transformer shows no short. Reconnect feed wires to Fixed 2 and disconnect output wires from fixed 2. Short is back. This eliminates track and wiring. Looks like I have a TIU problem. Am I correct and is this repairable or am I buying another TIU?

It's easily repairable, it's typically the TVS diode on the outputs of the channels.  If you have an ohmmeter, pop the top of the TVS and check the four diodes indicated.  One will likely indicate a direct short, that's the problem.  This test is done with nothing connected to the TIU.

These are common parts, 1500W 36V TVS at Digikey is a suitable replacement.
