Scenario: TIU(REVL) unit powered on via aux in z500. Track power off. When track power is applied while the TIU is already on will the watchdog signal be sent? I realize The TIU sends out a watchdog signal whenever the output of a TIU channel changes from zero to any higher voltage but am not sure if this can occur unless the TIU powered up at the same time as track power

WillyGee,
Bill it is my understanding that TIU power must be on or increased for the Watch dog signal to be initiated. Got to tell you I do not really understand just exactly why.

If I understand the DCS Companion correctly, then yes, the watchdog signal will be sent.
Yes, each channel controls it's WD output individually. When the output of the channel transitions from zero to non-zero, the WD will be output.

That is correct.
The watchdog is sent on a channel-by-channel basis anytime the TIU channel's output voltage changes from 0 to any higher voltage. Of course, the TIU must be powered on or it will not work at all, let alone send a watchdog signal.
This and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store! |
