runamuck - where does one get "suitcase connectors"?
Thanks!
You can order them from Micro-Mark. And they are likely available at any store that stocks electrical supplies.

I'm using the 180w power brick with the cab 1L and 1L base. Does the bus wire connect from one end to the power brick to the 1L base? Could I use 16 guage wire for my bus wire?
The command base wire connects to the common anywhere you want at the either at the transformer or the track it doesn't really matter.
The command base just needs to be "tied in" to the common of the layout, and the wire only needs to be as long as you need to get from the base to the transformer or track.
16 ga should do fine, Iwouldn't go any smaller than that.

Ace Hardware is where I purchased mine. But yes, Lowes and Home Depot should carry them also. Compare with the pricing at Micro Mark which is probably cheaper.
I found those suitcase connectors at Lowe's this afternoon - FYI, they're actually called "Tap Splices"!
Starhopper,
Absolutely correct, the real name of this electrial item, is Tap-Splicers not suite case connectors.

I now have 3 Command Control equipped engines. 2 diesel and 1 steam locomotive.
All 3 came from current forum members which I purchased here on the forum.
Not perfect but all in good condition.
I have taken all 3 of them apart down to the frame, cleaned and detailed them and rebuilt them. On 1 diesel I replaced a couple worn parts but nothing severe.
The engines look brand new.
After greasing and oiling, all 3 of these engines performed amazingly.
I'm waiting for parts I ordered to replace the smoke unit in the steam engine but here is a little video of the engine on my layout.
