Does anyone have them working with a TMCC command base with DCS? Is there anything special I need to look out for when I get to start building my first non-carpet layout? I couldn't pass them up when I bought them as they were only about $6 more than a pair of just remote switches.

You can't operate the command switches through the DCS remote, you'll have to use the CAB1 to operate the switches.
Thanks you for the reply. I guess I will locate a CAB1.
millerman61,
Guns is right the best way to run the Command Control switches is with the Cab1 or Legacy Cab2 remote control. However if you wanted to run them with the DCS you would need the AIU, wire them up as you would an old 072, with the AIU and they can be controlled with the DCS via the DCS hand held remote control also. However if you want to go wireless and use track power, you must run using the Legacy Cab2 or the TMCC Cab1, which IMO is the best way to go, if you have less than 100 switches.
Have fun

No point in buying command switches if you're going to wire them to the AIU.
Guns,
I agree 100%, use the DCS block wiring, with the 12 track discipline and run your switches off track power, they run perfectly all the time. I use the Cab2 remote control and love it, one of the very best pieces of engineering Lionel has ever done.

I thought the DCS remote would send TMCC switch commands to the Base1 over a serial connection?
jon,
Although I have not tried it in that manner, I do not believe that it will operate the switches in that manner without connecting them thru the AIU 1st, which would demand you wire the switches to the AIU, defeating the purpose of wireless Command Control switches.

Jon, it just addresses engines, it doesn't address accessories or switches. I don't really know why they didn't put that in...
When you select a switch, it looks for an AIU.
Jon,
I thought the DCS remote would send TMCC switch commands to the Base1 over a serial connection?
If you could provide some input, I expect that we could make that happen!
Barry, TMCC serial link commands are documented in Lionel TRAINmaster, The Complete Guide to Command Control, I suspect that's where MTH got the information in the first place.
John,
It was a somewhat rhetorical statement...
Maybe, I just can't understand what point you were trying to make as Jon's part is done, interface completely documented.
John,
Sigh!
You have no sense of humor at all. It was a joke between two friends, one of which was not you.
Perhaps if the jokes weren't so obtuse...
Guns,
You lost this one buddy, I am guilty of what Barry has just done more than you might know. At times these inside jokes leave others scratching their heads cause the inside joke means absolutely nothing to them and makes no sense what so ever. I had a hunch Barry was playing with him due to the way he used so few words. Usually Barry explains things in more detail, if he is serious about his post. Guns you missed his sarcasm and took him seriously.

Dave, it's a public forum, so posts should be clear enough to know what the intent is, no?
Dave,
You get it. John just doesn't. We should move on...
Barry,
It's the difference in engineering disciplines, Guns is an electrical type engineer, they have no sense of humor, now old Welding Engineers like me, we are use to getting laughed at all the time, at least until a Space Shuttle needs to be built, a Bridge needs to stay up or a Sky Scraper needs to sway in the wind.
