I also have an early Legacy System, registered and in box under the layout. If my physical situation improves to the point that I can return to my attic layout work I will probably install the Legacy just for somewhat better Cab 1 operation.

Dewey,

Not sure what your surgery was but I had a Laminectomy and Fusion on my lower back. It addressed the pinched nerves that were causing both my legs to lose control like when someone hits the back of your knee and it buckles. It has been three years and am doing well, only real issue is stiffness and what goes along with it.

I hope all goes well with your recovery and do not try and do too much too soon. Let it heal and you will have better long term results.

Sorry for the hijack but wanted to make sure you will be able to do much more than lay around!

Thanks for your Comments Dennis and John.

I am doing well so far, a little soreness but no pain.

I will take it easy and wait to test it out. The surgeon opened a couple of old fractures midpoint of my back and cemented the vertabrae back in place with "bondo". The fractures had caused my lower spine to compress, thus the lack of pain-free movement. I believe the procedure is called Kyphoplasty.

We guess the fractures occurred 13 years ago upon a fall and ER and later Orthopedic types missed the diagnosis by concentrating on my bruised head[ I was out cold] and broken elbow. Strangely, I had no severe pain until February 2010 just when I finished building my benchwork[most fortunately I had completed the wiring on the little attic layout and could run a train or two]. However, the layout is a mess in general because when it hit me I dropped everything.
