Last week, I drove down to pick up some pieces Doug was holding for me while I rehabbed from knee replacement surgery. I continue to be impressed by the quality and detail of his offerings!!!

Let me start with my first free standing building I’ve purchased from Doug - a 5-story version of the Cameron Apartments.

The free standing buildings come pre-lit with LED’s on all floors. The brickwork and applied detail are crisp. There are windows on all sides and the rear has a service entrance and loading bay door (as was suggested by someone here on the Forum.

Unlike the shadowboxes, the back is not removable.

I also picked up the 5-story Corrigan Station Walnut & 19th Street shadowboxes. I had asked Doug if he could make a “bridge” between the two facades (like ones I have seen in many buildings and warehouses in the NYC area) and he came up with a really great version.

I have to reposition the bridge when I finally get a chance to install the set on the layout... it will allow me to have a street going between the buildings. Some of the applied details on these buildings and windows are incredible.

If you are planning on making it to York in. October, I would highly recommend stopping by to check out Doug’s offerings.

How deep are they? Can you post some side shots?

Paul;

The shadowboxes are app. 1” deep (some have loading docks which makes them a bit thicker). I believe the free standing building is 6” deep - unfortunately, I’m dealing with some family care issues for the next few weeks and won’t be home to take measurements/additional pics, but hopefully these will help. The freestanding pic is new, the side/“inside” pics are from some older purchases.

Hopefully Doug (@ToddModel) will see this and be able to give more info on the measurements.

Paul-

Thanks for the post! Glad you were able to escape before the heavy rains came!

Here's my (brief) description and photographs of the same building that you have. It is the one on the left of the three below- the others are variations.

All four sides of Cameron Apartments 5-story building, 6” deep (CS-01 5020-6-R1-S2). This particular building is upgraded from the base version by adding brick on the two sides and rear, plus adding windows to the left and right sides. It is meant to stand alone.

There are currently six other variations of the theme available in the first run of the 5-story building. The variations include either clear or translucent glazing, windows on front/rear, front/left/rear, front/right/rear and front/ left/right/rear. We did not make all of the possible variations, but Paul is the only one who preordered to get exactly what he wanted out of all of the options. The most basic available version has brick scored on the rear and stucco on both sides, making it appropriate for placement as an interior building in a block. Each building comes with an aged brass marquis/canopy that slots in between the 1st and 2nd floors.

The building is 6-3/4" wide, 15-1/4" tall and 6" deep. Each building has a floor and ceiling, and its own LED light.

We are also making the 6" deep building in 6- stories (17-1/2" tall) and 7-stories (20" tall). There will only be four buildings of each height made in the first run, one each with windows on front/rear, front/left/rear, front/right/rear and front/ left/right/rear. There will be brick on all four sides.

The building can also be custom-ordered. We have one order in process where there will actually be one (6-stories) stacked on top of another (7-stories) with the upper portion stepped back 1" from the lower portion.

If you order now, you may specify translucent or clear windows. If you spec clear windows, the back will not be glued on and you will be able to decorate the interiors. One thing that I noticed when taking a group picture- the window frames cast clear shadows onto the street when the interior LED's are lit.

Call me at the shop to discuss what you version you want and for pricing details.
