I have a modest collection of Lionel postwar rolling stock. Most of it is low budget I would like to start by doing touch ups and work my way up to repaints.I have seen a lot of touchups and the results are fair at best.I would like to account for the fade factor, original dull, touch up bright. Thanks in advance. Are you sure it is not freight car red?
do not think Pennsy used tuscon red on there cabin cars.
Hmmm LIONEL might
All the information I have ever read says you are right. Pennsy Cabooses after about 1914 give or take were Freight Car Red (boxcar red Pennsy version). Work train stuff got some other colors and there were some experiements near the end. Before that they were "Vermillion"
But as for Lionel - they paint things the way they paint them. The best thing to do is get a color chart and see if you can find something to match. Or maybe something is documented from the 50s someplace. But Lionel Pennsy cabooses I have seen appear to be some sort of dark brown or tuscan or maroon.
I don't know what is a match but can tell you none of the Floquil paints are a match. I suspect you will have to mix a few together using trial and error to find a match.

I was wondering about the color, as I have a 2360 that apparently was on the bottom of the set box with the track thrown on top of it. It needs a touchup and clear coat like the competitor's magazine has been doing on steamers.
