Hi Everyone,

For a wood train display case (4 shelves) that has been constructed without without sliding glass doors (or the ability to retrofit them), would there be any options for a front cover/door (for dust protection).

Cutting plexiglass sheets and attaching with Velcro seems like the only option.

Any ideas would be very appreciated.

I purchased two cases on da bay with glass doors that fold up. If you search posts on the photo album undermy handle, the cases will bound to show. The doors are framed glass with two hinges on top of the case and two latches underneath. You can do the same with your case. Frame in glass or plexiglass then get a piano hinge from those big box hardware stores and you are set!

What type of wood did you use, and how wide is the opening? I've got an oak/oak plywood display that is 48" wide, and 30" tall. If you know someone that can make strong joints; build door frames out of wood, and mount plexiglass into those and add some hidden hinges. Glass is nicer, but it would likely be too heavy. Mine has been around for over 15 years, and still looks great.

EMD, I own a glass co. and most companies should be able to take care of your needs. You can actually do anything you want with glass or plexiglass.  You can do individuals for @ shelf or one large, and if you decide to add wooden door you can have glass or plexi dropped in.  If you need any help or suggestions feel free to drop me a email.
