Popi,
No train wrecks here, my nephue was good at it however, had to rebuild my Northern Pacific after he wrecked it, the 1959 Lionel is in perfect running order now.

Looks like the one above was left out in the driveway. My childhood set was on the
floor in the basement when the water heater broke=rust.
Allegheny caught a high tension wire and rolled over
Someone got careless with the axe around the woodpile? Bad place to store the trains, you should move them a bit farther away.
Perhaps the locomotive was so powerful that when pulling a very heavy train, the boiler wasn't strong enough to handle the weight.
Cement floors are a killer.
my theory is some kid wacked it with a hammer!!
A photo from the ***** shipping company how-to training manual?
Jim
Why would you buy that?
I hope he engineer and fireman are OK. It looks like the locomotive got his broadside by another locomotive at a crossing or an internal explosion from too much steam pressure. WOW!

Santa Fe Jim,
I did not buy it. It was listed on an on line auction site and I saved the picture for just such an occasion.
Popi -
That makes more sense. From the rear coupler on the tender I'd say that locomotive is from the late 30's or maybe even earlier.
you got that right.
it is definitely a
pre war locomotive
Bad, bad, BAD case of ...(drum roll)..."ZINC PEST"!!!
A 2-6-4 articulated engine
you got that right.
it is definitely a
pre war locomotive
It a 226/226E - nice engine when in one piece. The tender itself is desirable if intact.
