Trainsounds tender upgrade to Railsounds | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all,

I am trying to help a fellow club member who want's to upgrade his Polar Express Trainsounds tender to Electric Railroad Co. Conventional Railsounds.

Is it possible to reuse the Trainsounds chuff trigger with the Railsounds board?

I note the Trainsounds chuff trigger has 3 wires. And the Railsounds board uses 2 wires from a reed switch.

Reason for the upgrade is the Trainsounds board malfunctions on 50Hz power.

The ERR board MUST have totally isolated input. I believe it might be possible to use the hall effect sensor, but you'd have to talk to Ken at ERR for the connections for the 5V to the sensor board. I'm guessing it's one of the connections on J1 as I can't imagine the board doesn't support that sensor.
