As of now its predicted mostly sunny high of 41/ low of 26. This is 1010wins..you give us 22 min, we give you the world!
I forgot to mention that anybody that wants to sell anything can set up on top of our display cases no charge to do so.
My son Theodore and I are very excited for the weekend. Is anyone brining anything to run on the layout?
Will be there weather permitting plus 1......joe
Hi, might bring my Lionell legacy second edition 4014 big boy really smokes great and has many features!
Alan
I'm going to do my darnedest to recover enough from Mohs surgery on my lower back to make the trip! I guess I could drag my son and have him drive while I stretch out with the back seat to myself. I'm sure that's how he wants to spend his last day home before heading back to college!

Count me in please for two from western MA
Thanks
hi; would like to attend on saturday with two others. thanks
The Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders aka OCSMR of Lakewood, NJ has 2 car loads of members attending. I figure about 10 members attending.
The president is to ride up with another member, maybe in his limo!
Hope to see all this Saturday!
Ben, will you have trains and/or food there?

Yes, we'll have trains and food. No drinks though as we know how much you enjoy bringing yours on the roof of your vehicle :
Yes, there will be drinks.

After a night out drinking at York and driving my friend’s car at York, I forgot about my coffee!
I was airing it out?
I'm going to try and make it up there.
Two more coming from Hartford CT.
Will scale streamliner passenger trains be run on the layout? I ask because I've never seen them run on a layout where they didn't look out of place. Hoping that with NJHR massive layout they'd look much better.
Hope to make it this year; even better if some scale streamliners are running.
Planning on attending and bringing my young son who will hopefully be as blown away as I was when I last attended pre-Covid.
Can't wait!

There's a passenger consist scheduled at 1:00 on the Green line and also at the same time on the inner/outer loop. Most of the inner/outer loop is underneath the large mountain by the club entrance.
You could always bring your own to run - we have a dedicated line for guests to run their train. There's a sign up sheet - just ask a club member to show you where it is and/or ask for Merrill.
I'd show you myself but I can't make it as I'm recovering from some surgery on Wednesday.

Hi Ben et al.
Sorry for the late notice but Kathie and I will be there. I had bronchitis a couple of weeks ago and have been enduring a regimen of prednisone and antibiotics, which have beaten down the bronchitis but have been driving my digestive system crazy. We'll tough it out and are looking forward to our visit tomorrow.
Chris
IF all goes well my wife and I will be attending
I will be there.
Sorry I cannot make it. Funeral service plus I fell a few weeks ago and my wife's knee just went out.
Other than that it is just another day.
New member here. Will be taking my 5 yo son who is obsessed with trains
I just might be able to make this.
As of this am, my plans have gone southward and not going to make it. Wife has strep throat and would not want to give it to someone there. The contagious part is mostly over but I might be batter up for a sore throat aka next in line to get sick.
My club members are attending without their president. I will see the Hi-railers at Greenberg Edison.
Great big thanks to the NJ HiRailers for a grand day...good food, great people..joe
Hats off to HI Railers for a great layout BUT Very disappointing visit. Wife and I drove three hours to get there by 11 AM. Upon entering we were given a meal ticket. We started around the beautiful layout. I was TRYING to take pictures but EVERYONE was leaning or standing at the edge of the layout just talking about other things than the layout. Not only blocking us from seeing and taking pictures but it also prohibited us from going around the layout. I don't mind people talking but to stand at the edge of a layout advertised to come and see and even block access around is more than rude. I was constantly saying excuse me. BUT THE REAL TOPPER - going to get our meal at 11:35 am and finding nothing but salad and some pasta left. Really? Why ask if we are coming and saying you need a count for food if you are out before noon? Loved the layout but the food and rudeness left a BIG impression!
Thanks for the hospitality, the layout is magnificent, the food was outstanding, well worth the time and admission price. (My only complaint is River street- so many heaves, bumps and potholes, going to need new shocks and springs on my truck )

Did you even think of ASKING someone about the food? An announcement was made about it over the PA. Sandwiches, salads and pierogis were put out around 11, the actual FOOD wasn't even delivered to the building until around 12:30. There was Chicken Marsala, Broccoli and shells, Eggplant parmesan, Pasta, Sausage and Peppers, and rice. It was well organized, there was plenty of it, and it was delicious.
As for the people, the hosts were more than gracious. Despite occasionally having folks block the walkway while having conversations, I didn't have any issues circumnavigating the layout several times. If you asked someone to move out of your way, they did.

I can’t comment about anyone else’s treatment of you and your wife at the NJHR, and am certainly sorry that you feel that way, but…lunch wasn't served until after 12:30 or 1:00. It was delivered to the building. If you left early, you missed lunch. YOU MISSED LUNCH. Everyone else ate like kings. The food was plentiful, and superb, as usual. Thanks again, NJHR, for a wonderful, friendly, gathering. I consider myself lucky to have attended.

That's part of its charm.
Big thanks to the N.J. Hi Railers for a great time! My wife and friend and I really enjoyed it. The new additions were beautiful but the coal dumper is still the best. And WE didn't walk out hungry!
Yep I left at 11:50. IF an announcement was made I NEVER HEARD IT! As for the food OK I get it but my wife and I stood at the window for a while and NO ONE SAID ANYTHING! Also there was salad and pasta salad out along with a couple dirty foil pans. This left the impression we were too late. With all the NJ Hi Railers gathered at the food end you would think someone would have said it wasn't served till 12:30 or 1 o'clock. JUST SAYING!!! Like I said the layout was fantastic but just for a minute think about what I said.
You posted an event. A great event too! SO people come. Nothing is said about food being delivered till 12:30 or later. If it was it was never heard. Hmm my suggestion either post it or say it when you are handed the meal ticket. JUST A SUGGESTION. I want people to walk away impressed. I am TRYING to help not condemn. I am reporting things that I saw and experienced. Why would you want 20 (actually way more) blocking access? Especially on a ramp. I have wanted to see this layout for years. When someone came by me I either backed up or at least acknowledged them by saying "let me take this picture and I will move". NOTHING by most. Oh the one group said just kick them. Yea right I can see where that would have got me. Out on River road in a pothole!
If I was a member the one thing I would want was feedback on an outsiders experience. Not a club members, but an outsider or first timer. I am NOT trying to start and argument or saying the layout is anything but fabulous. Personally I would have loved to talk to someone about how is it wired? How long some things took, Maximum trains running. Membership Etc.. I would have made sure someone was asking " Any questions?".
I get what you are saying but you also need to hear what I am saying. I am trying to help not condemn. When someone throws up defenses first it implies to me they don't need me or my friends. Questions are usually the best answer for something that is said that I do not either agree with or understand why they said it.

Curtis Sorry people werent jumping out of your way . There were alot of people there and it doesnt seem like a big deal to say excuse me.
if you drove 3 hours to get there by 11 why leave at 1200 I dont get it Announcements were made 3 times that the food would be available at 12:30 Send me your address I'll return your giant admission fee

You fail to see my point. I was not dis satisfied with the layout. I really was not unhappy about having to say excuse me. But stop and think what I am saying. You have a beautiful layout. You are trying to Promote it and the hobby. For first timers seeing the layout is fantastic. But when you have people standing in the same spot for over twenty minutes blocking access it speaks volumes. If they were discussing something on the layout that is different but talking about what they or someone else collects or build or does? Really? When I have conversations like that I MOVE out of the way! In today's society it seems people only seem concerned about themselves. We have lost our manners! If I have to constantly keep asking for people to move who are NOT looking at the layout it is not worth me trying to enjoy it. Hence why we left! NOW YOU GET IT! It turned me off and it turned me off asking about associate membership. Is that what you want? If so you got it. As for returning my GIANT admission fee. I NEVER asked for it. Way to go push me further away! I am so impressed. A club is suppose to be welcoming and helping to promote themselves and the hobby. I get it bluelinec4, You don't care. Okay sorry I said anything at all. I am not trying to throw people under a bus but trying to be helpful. Sorry if I offended anyone!
Apparently I attended my first Trainstock in a parallel universe to some.
It was FANTASTIC! Great PEOPLE hosting a fantastic event! Before I left I went around and thanked some of the members for hosting such a Great Event.
Intend to start a thread about my experience, as I did after attending my first York Show Last Fall.
Until then Kudos to the NJ Hi-Railers they rock and ROLL. Pun intended. Thanks.

No I dont get it and I do fail to see your point I stopped and thought about it and you are the first one since I have been involved in this club to say that we dont promote the hobby. Trainstock started to get people to come hang out talk trains run your trains if you want and eat. Who cares what they are talking about or standing around Its their choice!! The only one that seems to be caring about themselves in this whole thread is you. People were in your way REALLY! Read your thread and see who is caring about themselves and not others Its YOU. Who said anything about associate membership so no its not what I want. As far as I am concerned you pushed yourself way out there This club welcomes everybody And you are definitely barking up the wrong tree by saying I dont care My name is Ben
Agree. I have never seen such a great club who goes out of its way to promote the hobby.
My club members always enjoy the NJHR. Nice members and amazing layout.
