Transfer Table 14113

Please share your impressions using the Lionel transfer table and extension. The instructions are contradictory: Should the front of the house face the ABC impression (wire insertions) or the other way around? If I want to use TMCC as shown in the diagram can I eliminate the four button controller? What can I substitute for connecting wire leads to the rails? This would be necessary if I eliminate the controller and use an SC-2.
