I have noticed something interesting on multiple postwar(z,zw,tw) transformers that I would like some of the electrical experts to explain to me. I have noticed that when a transformer is plugged in with wipers set to zero(off)and Nothing is connected to the outputs , I get some voltage ranging from 2 to 6 or so volts(depending on output tested) when measured with several fluke rms volt meters. If you connect an output to something (track layout, test track), with the wipers or rollers in the off position, you get the expected zero volts. I have read something on another forum about meters, having very high impedance ,measuring voltage capacitively when coupled to an off transformer circuit. Can anyone explain this to me? Or offer another explanation? Thanks
