I agree with Galon. MTH quality control on these switches is terrible. Those two rails on the inside of the switch rail paths are actually electrical switches as part of the anti-derailment feature that changes the switch if set wrong for the on-coming engine. I have seven RealTrax switches on my layout and every one had this problem. Simple shortening those two rails to make an electrical gap will fix the problem. Don't fail to do this immediately because if you continue to use them while they are buzzing away, you will burn out the motor. I also had to tear every switch apart and readjust the internals so that the points reached the rail they were supposed to touch. RealTrax in general is terrible. It is my biggest mistake on my now finished 7x9 layout. I have had to file track rails to get them into alignment both horizontally and vertically. The lack of alignment pins for the rails is a real problem for RealTrax.
