Check the embedded magnet on the side that chatters. If it come part way out, it does not let the motor return to where it should and trip the microswitch inside the unit.

Moving from one side that does not works to the other side and then the second side works, is a good indicator that the throw is not happening all the way.

If the magnet is not pushed in all the way in the switch body, push it back. If it is loose and still wants to come out, glue it.

That is the easiest solution if the magnet on one side is the problem. If it is not, look for one of the inner rails to be grounded to the adjoining track. Most would advise tape or grinding a little off of the offending rail making contact.
