Although this will be York #13 for me, this York will mark two firsts for me.  I will be a table-holder (in the Blue Hall) for the first time, and I will be camping on the fair grounds for the first time (in my brother's camper - he's a new member and table-holder as well).

I'm aware of all the rules, but can anyone provide any helpful tips or advice for a first-timer in either of these activities?

I seem to be even more excited than usual for this York!

My friends and I stayed in a camper on the grounds several times. I wish we still had one to use.

The first time we went, none of us realized that there were coin operated showers there. (Found them on the second trip) The ones that were open were in a little building near the Orange hall. I think the Orange hall has showers, but they were not available at the time.

As of the last time we stayed on the grounds, the showers were operated by quarters. Make certain you bring plenty! (but that was a few years ago).

There was a grocery store for supplies right across the road from the fairgrounds.

Sounds like you are expanding your fun factor. Getting a table is a great thing even if you don't have much to sell. Its a nice place to sit and rest your legs and meet new people that are table holders near you.

A bunch of buddies and I have some tables in the Blue hall as well. We are K-10-K 15 near the back unopened doors and small café. Stop by and say hi.

In addition to whats been posted, bring some snacks/drinks.  You should consider pricing items before you get there. The 2 hours of getting in and unpacked goes by quick. If you plan to have a display shelves or pile up stuff there is a height rule. I think its 24 inches but cant remember for sure. If you have a small matt to stand on, those come in handy. Be sure to have price tags, pens, bags. A cart is helpful and trash bags that fit your boxes in case it rains during setup/breakdown. Take engines out of the box so people can see them.

There are definitely peaks and valleys so a project or book can be a good way to pass the slow times.

I don't think I have enough stuff to sell that will require the under-table space, but stuff that I buy might find its way there on a temporary basis... so I guess there may be some good stuff there at some point.

My brother and I have our tables together, so we will be able to spell each other during the day.
