1) I have a 1995-1996 FP-45 Locomotive that for some reason gets going in forward and then stops moving, but the QSI engine sounds play. It sounds as if the leads out to the motors switch off inside (you get the same clicking sound as when you throttle over 12-14 volts). Just an abrupt halt. Sometimes it doesn't and it runs fine for a while. Never has an issue going backwards though. If I bang on it with my hand while DCRU is in the forward direction, but not moving, sometimes that gets it moving again. I thought it was a loose connection to the motors, but it isn't - they are soldered solid as a rock. Sound like anything anyone knows of???

2) My upgraded NYC Hudson has red classification lights on the rear of the tender. For some reason the class lights never come on (since the engine was repaired and returned to me). The back up light comes on fine in reverse, but the class lights stay off in the back. They flicker once open power up, but that's it - so I know the 6v LEDs are good. Can this be reset? Is there a remote option to turn them on and off, or maybe they are stuck in a glitch? Any ideas?

Have you considered talking to the repair guy?  What kind of upgrades were done?

I spoke to him. He told me the rear lights are "sound file dependent" - meaning, they go on depending on which sound file is loaded in the engine. Originally when I bought it second hand - the engine had the sounds of the Empire State Express, which I preferred and the lights came on. When the board that was in it died, and was sent out for repair, it came back with a new board but the sound file was that of the "Ohio State Limited" - which he claimed was the correct sound set for that locomotive, and probably is. Personally, I would like to get it back to the Empire State Express. The chuff was more robust, and the whistle similar enough. I'm hoping this will bring the lights back, but I'm not yet set up to do a sound file swap. Just was wondering if anyone else had ever had an issue like this and knew of a simple fix? (I'm not totally certain that the symptom I tried to describe to him ever completely registered.)

Sounds like a cold solder joint on the forward diodes for your PS-1.  They are the large diodes on the bottom board.

The Reset should turn them on for your upgrade engine.  Try a conventional reset, but it you have DCS use the softkeys and look for LMK and toggle on and off with it.  If not on the softkey list, try a feature reset with dcs.  G

Here is video of what the FP-45 is doing (shell is off). See how when I tap it, it gets moving in the reverse direction. When I go forward, no problem, but the other way needs a jolt. I looked over both boards. Nothing looks suspicious. Any ideas?

I do not think it is the sound file, rather some files default to off.  Have you tried a conventional reset if you run conventional only?  1W and 5B.  I run into this often when doing upgrades, and just had it happen last night with a Q2 upgrade sound file.  G

Yep, I have tried conventional reset. Still no dice.
