Will the SCII control FOUR fast track switches and TWO accessories at the same time.
The instruction sheet seems to imply that I can not connect a fast track switch to the number one terminal strip for some unexplained reason.

Yep, but you can modify the SC-2 to fix that.
Lionel SC-2 Fastrack Switch Modification
With this mod I have Fastrack switches on position one with no problems.
Wow great! That looks like a very easy Mod.
Now, what options are available to power the SCII AFTER making the Mod.
You can just connect track power to the two power terminals, that's probably the easiest. Since you're running command, you'll probably have it available. The outside rail goes to the top terminal you just freed from the first output position, center rail to the other one. You can also power it with a 7 to 20 volt AC wall-wart.
Did the mod and the switch worked perfectly in position #1.
Added a second switch on position #4 and then the whole SCII went south on me.
Only the through track now works on position 1 and 2. The turn out does not respond. I tried another CAB-1 and had the same result. Tried re-programing, but same result.
I can't imagine how cutting that trace broke position #4, I've done it on three of my SC2's, and they've all worked just fine after the mod. All you're doing is lifting the ground that is wired to the first position to allow power from switches like the 022 and it's kin.
I agree 100%
I must have a defective SCII
I wonder if it would be cost effective to get Lionel to service it?
Check with Dale Manquen, I believe he repairs them.
I have 7 SC-2's modified for 6 fastrack switches. A 7 work great. I would reprogram the SC-2 using instructions provided for 4 switches in positions 1-4 and 2 accessories in positions 5-6. All my SC-2's are powered by a Lionel CW-80 transformer.
I tried reprogramming.
It did not make a difference.
I'm thinking that I have a defective unit.
Can I contact the Lionel service center direct or do I have to go through a dealer?
The alternative is perhaps the Dale Manquen person previously suggested.
I have no experience with either choice.
I know Lionel doesn't do board-level repairs, and most dealers don't have the necessary test equipment. Please contact me directly if you would like my assistance.
