This is Scott Griggs from Trainz, and I wanted to update OGR Forum members on some unusual and unfair bidding activity we’ve experienced in our DASH Auctions. Observant members of our community reported that select O Gauge auctions were being compromised by a user bidding in bad faith. This user has been bidding auctions to extreme prices, always wins the auctions, and then never actually pays. This leaves Trainz with the headache of reprocessing and relisting at significant cost to us. The user has now been banned from the site, and DASH is also working to implement additional protections to prevent similar abuses of the system in the future. Finally, because bidding and not paying for items is a form of wire fraud, DASH is reaching out to the federal authorities in San Diego, California to deliver the AT&T IP address associated with this user, exercising the full extent of legal options available to them.
Although the DASH team is doing everything they can to ensure the continued integrity of the marketplace, they would still appreciate your help. The best way to help stop this issue is to let DASH know when you see unusual bidding activity. You can reach them at Support@Collector-ModelTrains.com to report it, and they will investigate the issue and take action as necessary.
If you have any other questions, you can reach out to Corey@Collector-ModelTrains.com.
Thanks for your time, and see you at York!
