I just received my refurbished UP Lionchief Plus 4-6-4 Hudson from Lionel's sale this past weekend. Everything is working however the sound has reverberating noise coming from the tender. I believe something is loose back there. Also the horn sounds more like a siren than like a whistle. Anyone have any experience with this engine or thoughts about what's going on? I've attached a short video.

I currently have a early LC+ Hudson and the whistle sounds just like that. I previously had a LC+ Pacific and it sounded like that too...
The new LC+ Berk that I have now has a MUCH improved sounding whistle.
Sounds ok from your video.
If that is what it's supposed to sound like then I'm alright with that. Thanks for letting me know. I just have to fix the reverberating noise and i'll be good to go. That noise didn't come across in the video, I'm sure something is just loose in the tender.

I had that issue with my Milwaukee Road Hudson, in my case it was the speaker. The chuff sounded like it was breaking the speaker, and eventually it did. Replaced the speaker with another one while I wait to receive the original speaker part from lionel. I would suggest attempting to replace the speaker, that or tightening the screws. The tender shell is required to be tight to the chassis to get good sound from the speaker.
I took it apart last night and found that the speaker didn't have a baffle. I made one out of an old pill bottle and hot glued it in place, it sounds great now. I still think the horn sounds more like a siren than a whistle but at least it doesn't rattle the tender anymore.
