Union pacific UPP 809 and 814 Question

These cars are named Jim Adams and Joe Jordan respectfully. My question is who are/were these guys? I've only been able to find that they were members of the Union Pacific Steam Team. More specifically they were pipe fitters.

Why did they get water tenders named after them? Just curious.

Joe Jordan retired as a Pipe Fitter, from the UP Steam Crew. Joe was responsible for the complete re-pipe of the Fireman's side of 3985 when she was converted from coal burning to oil burning.

Jim Adams was the Lead Machinist when he retired from the UP Steam Crew.

Both men were excellent, dedicated employees, and totally dedicated to the two operating steam locomotives maintained in Cheyenne. 

Are both men still living?
