Hi all,

I hope you can help with an odd problem. My TPC 400 and Command Base have stopped responding to any input from Cab-1. Mine is a very simple setup - TPC, Command Base, Cab-1. It's powered by a pair of 80w Atlas transformers. Everything has worked fine for more than a year, and then I turned it on a couple days ago and got nothing. When I turn on the power strip for the entire layout, the TPC blinks for a split second. I get no other response to any input on either the TPC or the Base.

What I've already tried:

- New batteries in Cab-1

- Removed and reinstalled crystal in Cab-1

- Making sure switch machines hard wired to transformers work - they do.

- Checking for loose connections

- Checking layout for shorts

Maybe the Base is the issue? Or the cable between TPC and Base? That has never fit as snug as I'd like but I don't see why that would suddenly quit.

Thank you!

Alan P

At this point, I'd try to find another remote or someone that has a TMCC installation.  Next step is to determine which of the two units is having the issue.  There isn't much you can do to "reset" them, other than taking the batteries out as you have done.  Obviously, you should also power cycle the base, but I'm guessing you've done that as well.

The only other thing that comes to mind is to measure the voltage from the command base wall wart.  It should be at least 12 volts AC with no load.

Hi Alan, i've had a problem with an unresponsive TPC 400. I found that re-programming it each time I turn on my layout, that it works till I power it off. It doesn't hold the "commamd control" programming.

To assign TPC to "track 1"
Set TPC to "prg"
From Cab 1 ---
Tr 1->. L -> set
Set TPC back to "run"
That works untill I shut down the layout.
I hope you might find this info helpful.
